Homo sapiens sapiens

by Benjamin Toche

an excerpt from Homo sapiens sapiens,

itself an excerpt from The Birder

Time advanced, killed the summer. In its passing the man’s oldest children boarded flights and departed for their winter home and the man’s body and youngest son settled into a fully ignited autumn. The trees flamed and died. Cold swept in. Soon, the earth lay under a blanket of crisp and brutal snow that melted then returned to stay for the season. Wind raked the mountains and flowed down the dirty iced streets.
